Craft Story
Renowned for its extraordinary softness and feather-light feel, Muslin, or Mulmul, is one of Bengal's most celebrated textile traditions. Handwoven from exceptionally fine cotton yarns, it earned global acclaim as the "Woven Wind" and the "Wonder Gossamer" for its sheer delicacy and airy texture. During the Mughal era, Dhaka (present-day Bangladesh) became the heart of Muslin weaving. Following the Partition of 1947, many master weavers migrated to West Bengal, settling in Shantipur, Kalna, Samudragarh, and Dhatrigram, where they revived and preserved this centuries-old craft. Today, Muslin sarees continue to be handwoven by skilled artisans using traditional techniques. Loved for their breathable fabric, graceful drape, and unmatched comfort, they remain a timeless choice for warm climates and elegant everyday wear.
