Craft Story
Kota Doria traces its origins to Kota in Rajasthan, where the distinctive doria fabric was once woven for turbans. Under the royal patronage of Rao Kishore Singh, silk was introduced into the weave, lending the fabric its signature transparency and delicacy. The fabric is known for its fine square check pattern (khat pattern).
Today woven across the Hadoti region, Kota Doria is recognized for its iconic checkered pattern — cotton lending structure while silk brings airy lightness and a subtle sheen. The craft is protected under a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, preserving its heritage and authenticity.
